Although diet and exercise plans go together like peanut butter and jelly, not everyone wants to spend countless hours at the gym. Dieting without exercise can work, but know that if you want to drop that weight sans gym, your diet must be that much more "dialed in" in order to see results. Although individuals working out three or four times a week can still have an occasional dessert, you have no such luxury. If you are still determined to diet without exercise, here are two plans that can produce real result if followed in full.
7 Habits
One diet that can fulfill your exercise-free lifestyle goals is the 7 Habits Diet, by Canadian nutritionist Dr. John Berardi.
The 7 Habits Diet is not so much a regulated diet but a series of seven rules that, when followed, produce maximum physique changes in minimal time. The diet is the culmination of Berardi's work with a wide range of clients, from professional athletes to average people like you and me. Although the 7 Habits Diet is simple, do not make the mistake of confusing simple with easy. If you want to accomplish your goals in the complete absence of exercise, difficulties are to be expected.
The 7 Habits are:
1. Consume small meals every two to three hours for a total of five to eight meals per day.
2. Consume lean protein with every meal: eggs, chicken, fish, or meat.
3. Consume fruit and veggies with every meal.
4. Only consume carbs from fruit and veggies.
5. Consume at least 25 percent of your total daily calories from fat: animal fats and oils such as fish, flax, olive and coconut.
6. Drink only water and green tea.
7. No liquid nutrition; all meals must be solid meals;
Following these 7 Habits will get you to your goal weight without exercise. All that is required is enough diligence to maintain strict compliance.
Caveman Diet
Another alternative is the Caveman, or Paleo, Diet by physician Dr. Ben Balzer. Balzer is a family physician who believes that grains are the root cause of obesity and many other dietary aliments. By modeling our diets after foodstuffs to which our primitive ancestors would have had access, we can avoid many of the malignancies caused by modern diets, Balzer believes. As with the 7 Habits diet, there are not many rules here to memorize. Adherents to the Caveman Diet must fully abstain from consuming all grains, beans, dairy, potatoes, sugar and added salt. Instead, focus your nutritional intake around meat, chicken, fish, eggs, fruit, vegetables, nuts (not peanuts or cashews, however) and berries. That is all that is necessary to lose weight without exercise.
Conclusion
There are similarities between the 7 Habits Diet and the Caveman Diet. Truly, many of our society's aliments are because of the poor nutritional habits brought on by modern "advancements." By returning your focus to a more pure, simple system of eating, you can achieve your weight-loss goals, even in the absence of exercise.
